New Physicians
"Working
with accomplished athletes and teams has given me a different
outlook on my field of medicine," says Peter Gerbino, M.D., a
board certified orthopedic surgeon and fellowship-trained sports
medicine specialist who recently began practicing in Monterey.
"Instead of focusing on a certain procedure, I work to understand
how an injury occurred and how to keep it from happening again."
Dr. Gerbino brings his fresh perspective - gained from more than
eight years treating professional and amateur athletes with the
Boston Marathon, Boston Ballet, U.S. Figure Skating Team and others
- to each patient he sees in his current practice.
"In Boston, I spent much of my time treating certain types of knee
injuries and shoulder problems, but I also did a lot of general
orthopedics," he adds. "In my current practice, I'm available to
treat athletes of all ages, as well as those who aspire to be
athletes."
Dr. Gerbino's office is located at:
930 Sunnyslope Rd., Ste C2

Taking
care of our heart’s health is important for all of us, no matter our
age, and residents of San Benito County now have a “heart-healthy”
advocate on their side thanks to the addition of a full-time
board-certified cardiologist, Dr. Joseph Lee Klapper at Hazel
Hawkins Memorial Hospital. Dr. Klapper brings a wealth of knowledge
in the areas of physiology and pathology of the heart, including
cardiovascular disease, coronary care, heart failure, myocardial
infarction (heart attack), cardiac catheterization and
echocardiography. Dr. Klapper is board certified by the Cardiology
Board/American Board of Internal Medicine (1998) and the Internal
Medicine/American Board of Internal Medicine (1994).
Dr. Klapper is looking forward to the new opportunities available to
him at the Hospital. “I was looking for something different, and
looking for something better, so I could take care of more people.”
Dr. Klapper attended medical college at Hahnemann University, now
Drexel University, in Philadelphia. He then went on to complete his
internship at State University of New York at Stony Brook, and
completed his residency at Cabrini Medical Center of New York
Medical College. His post-graduate medical education fellowship was
completed at Saint Vincent’s Hospital and Medical Center in New
York.
Dr. Klapper’s office is located on the campus of Hazel Hawkins
Memorial Hospital at 901 Sunset Drive, Suite 4. For further
information you can reach his office 831-630-9467 or send an e-mail
