HAZEL HAWKINS MEMORIAL HOSPITAL TO DEMOLISH AND RENOVATE FRONT ENTRANCE PORTE-COCHÉRE
Hollister, Calif., AUGUST 18, 2021, – Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital (HHMH) will begin the process of demolition of the front entrance Porte-cochére (entryway canopy) on Monday, August 23. A security fence will be installed on Monday and upon completion of regulatory inspections, demolition of the sprinkler system and lighting will begin on Wednesday. Structural demolition will take place on Thursday, August 26 and is expected to be completed within 7 – 10 days.
Patients will still be able to access the main lobby of the hospital by side doors on either side of the front entrance, however the drive through area will be blocked off.
“We anticipate the entire project to be completed within 30 – 45 days” states Richard Tawney, Director of Plant Operations.” “This project will enhance the hospital’s front entrance and still provide a covered entry area for our patients.”
The structure is being demolished to address structural integrity issues due to collision damage. The remaining covered entryway will then be renovated to match the front of the building.
