The Foundation Receives A Grant for Six Language Interpreters
Funded in part by a Community Matching Impact Grant from the Community Foundation for SBC, the Hazel Hawkins Hospital Foundation received a grant for six language interpreters. The interpreter allows non-English speakers to communicate with a live medically trained individual in order to translate medical questions and terms correctly. They allow for a more personal touch for the patient.
Recently, at one of our Health Centers, an interpreter was used to help with sign language. The nurses at the Health Center reported back to us that not only was it easy to use, it made the whole experience much more personal because you can see who you are communicating with. The patient was able to communicate easily though the interpreter and was grateful and relieved to know we have this resource for them.
