Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital Receives $10M Loan Through State of California Distressed Hospital Loan Program
August 24, 2023 – Hollister, Calif. –Today the State Department of Health Care Access and Information announced that Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital, along with several other rural hospitals across the State, have been awarded much-needed loans as part of California’s Distressed Hospital Loan Program. We want to thank the efforts of Assembly members Robert Rivas and Esmeralda Soria and Senator Anna Caballero and their staff, whose constant focus on this issue paved the way for this vital assistance. Additionally, we would like the acknowledge the hard work by Treasurer Fiona Ma and her office as well as the leadership by Governor Gavin Newsom for making this critical program available.
As a result, Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital will receive an interest-free loan of $10 million in the coming weeks – funds which will be used to support its continued provision of high-quality patient care to San Benito County residents.
