HAZEL HAWKINS HOSPITAL RECEIVES $3 MILLION LOAN FROM STATE
HOLLISTER, CA – January 12, 2023: Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital (HHMH) received a $3,000,000 loan from the California Health Facilities Financing Authority (CHFFA). The loan through CHFFA, a State of California organization through State Treasurer, Fiona Ma’s, office, will allow HHMH to extend the timeline the hospital needs to find a strategic partner. The Hospital was originally estimated to run out of funds on February 18, 2023. The District believes that additional funding is needed to further extend the date to at least September 2023 to provide sufficient time for its marketing process and to close a deal with a strategic partner.
“With this loan and other operational savings endeavors, we have extended the date the District will run out of cash to mid-March” said Mary Casillas, Interim CEO. “Part of our long term plan moving forward is to continue to search for additional funding and strategic partnership opportunities along with evaluating our daily operations to identify and implement cost saving measures to continue to extend that date.”
NEW DATE FOR PUBLIC FORUM: HHMH’s Public Forum that had been postponed has been rescheduled to take place on Monday, January 23 at 5:30 p.m. at the Veteran’s Memorial Building in downtown Hollister. Hospital officials will provide updates about their financial status and what actions are being taken to preserve hospital services.
